The West Side Rooters Social Group is the first known fan club of the Chicago Cubs. It was disbanded after the 1908 championship season by Cubs president Thomas Johnson. Many feel that this act could be one of the many curses that haunt the team, and the club was revived in 2008. The site was created to display photos, quotes, cartoons and articles from the season of the Cubs' last championship and was designed to evoke the spirit of that era. Chairman and Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie Banks communicates to more than 6,000 current Rooters, informing them of upcoming events.
